I was in a terrible mood the day I met Casey. I don't remember quite what it was-- just that the day couldn't be over soon enough. We drove out to the Inner Sunset to interview her for the Passion Stories muse series and just about the moment I stepped into her studio, I felt better.
I'm not sure if this is everyone's experience with her (I wouldn't be surprised) but we just clicked. I saw her paint-splattered floor and loved her nonchalance over never receiving her security deposit back. I met Bill Murray, king of his own world and destined to make his home with Casey. Everything she said resonated with me-- from her adoration for her grandmother to her firm philosophy that all hardships define you.
Even though I've met Casey a total of three times, I know she's someone I want to keep close. She's currently fundraising for her next adventure-- an entire year painting in a Hayes Valley storefront, sharing her "entire creative process with the hopes of awakening the possibilities in you."
(And I'm photographing it!)
