It's raining outside and I'm thinking back on warmer summer days. James and Ryan married in the sweetest, most-them kind of affair. On the first day, they held the tiniest ceremony in the courtyard of a cafe where they both worked while in college. Although the details were immaculate and charming, everything was really all about celebrating their love and gratitude. Some of my favorite parts from this day were:

  • James' dress made by her mother, hand-dyed by herself
  • close friends arranging the flowers
  • James putting make up on then wiping most of it off (and actually saying, "I like my oily t-zone")
  • James and Ryan seeing/kissing/being/getting ready together before the ceremony
  • the mother of the bride introducing me to every single person and explaining how they were related to James
  • the most intimate garden ceremony surrounded by loved ones
  • watermelon gazpacho and Mexican hot chocolate (and lambrusco!)

The best part that this was just the first day of the festivities. Day two coming soon!
