When I went to Big Sur in April for Jenn and Bryan's wedding, Coley came along as my friend/assistant/travel boo for the weekend. It was her first time visiting this part of the coast and I was so excited to introduce her to this haven that I could hardly keep my eyes on the road.
So, of course, the safe thing to do was stop. Our first stop next to the Bixby Bridge was the dramatic, moody side of Big Sur. It was windy and cold but still irresistible so we took a mini (and I mean mini) hike down the cliffs to get better, albeit colder, views. Seeing Coley soak it all in was half the fun for me.
Just as the sun was setting, we made it to Pfeiffer Beach to location scout for the wedding the next day. The winds had slowed, the air was warm(er), and golden hour flooded around us. It was like Big Sur had a lobotomy. A beautiful lobotomy.
I'm lucky that Big Sur isn't too far from me as it's a place that always makes my heart feel at ease. There's something about the depths of the cliffs and the expanse of water all in one place. I can never get enough and I'm so happy I got introduce one of my favorite places to one of my favorite people.
