YOU GUYS! My pal/muse/inspiration Leela has written the most stunning cookbook. It's breathtaking-- I wish I could live in it. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate Food with Friends than by literally sharing food with friends, all the while channeling my inner Leela with tea and flowers and happiness. Coley and I made Leela's salty everything cookies (chocolate! pumpkin seeds! sesame seeds! poppy seeds!) and her chai, as well as a cheese board to snack on in between sweet bites.
My favorite part of Leela's book is the subtle homage to the places she's been with tips and tricks learnt from people in her life. Somehow her recipes inspired by India, Italy, and beyond still fit together seamlessly to create a fun and whimsical collection. While all of her recipes are accessible to the everyday cook, they're really about taking a bit of extra time to make the everyday more special.
