I like to think that I have a travelers heart-- content anywhere but home and always looking for somewhere new. But the truth is, I'm a sap when it comes to home. I miss my family, I miss my friends, and I miss the ocean. I'm a gypsy homebody.
So although I'm happy to be somewhere new, I can't help but get excited when I happen upon something familiar. During my most recent shoot for Communal Table, this carbonara made my heart ache (in the good way). It reminded me of Italy and the ability to make a new home wherever I go. And it reminded me that no matter what new homes I make, I'll always have one to return to.
Thank you, Adrian, for stirring up all these feelings with one dish. Check out the recipe here, and if you're in Portland, consider backing Communal Table's upcoming quarterly-- The Pot Issue. It's gonna be a good one.
